Cookies and localStorage are different
A cookie is a small value a website can ask your browser to store and return with later requests. localStorage is browser storage available to scripts for the same site; its values are not automatically attached to network requests. Both deserve a clear explanation when used.
The page scripts supplied here do not set cookies. They use localStorage only if you choose to remember an essential-only preference on this page. That action does not enable tracking, analytics or advertising.
Your local preference
You can read the entire site without saving a preference. Saving simply records your choice in this browser; clearing it does not turn on optional cookies.

What is saved

- Purpose: remember the choice you explicitly save here.
- Location: this browser’s localStorage for the site’s origin.
- Duration: until cleared by you, your browser or a later site change. This code sets no automatic expiry.
- Data not included: your name, email, message draft, puzzle answers or an advertising identifier.
Other page functions
The navigation menu and scroll reveals keep only temporary page state. Native solution disclosures do not need a saved account or cookie. The contact composer builds its text locally and does not save the fields to localStorage. Copy and download actions use your clipboard or a local file, not a tracking cookie.
Browser controls
You can block storage or remove site data through your browser settings. Private browsing may clear saved values when the session ends. If storage is unavailable, the preference controls report that limitation and the educational pages remain readable.
